Nominees for The 56th Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday night by The Recording Academy during a live nomination concert.
Ada’s Blake Shelton earned his fifth and sixth nomination:
Best Country Album - Based On A True Story
Best Country Solo Performance - “Mine Would Be You”
“Mine Would Be You” also earned songwriters Jessi Alexander, Connie Harrington & Deric Ruttan a nomination for Best Country Song.
Four-time Grammy winner and Oklahoma resident Miranda Lambert earned one nomination:
Best Country Solo Performance - “Mama’s Broken Heart”
“Mama’s Broken Heart” also earned songwriters Brandy Clark, Shane McAnally & Kacey Musgraves a nomination for Best Country Song.
20-time Grammy winner Vince Gill and Kelly Clarkson earned one nomination:
Best Country Duo/Group Performance - “Don’t Rush”
Gap Band founder and six-time Grammy nominee Charlie Wilson earned one nomination:
Best Gospel Song - “If I Believe”
Three-time Grammy winner Kings of Leon, which includes Oklahoma-born members Matthew and Nathan Followill, earned one nomination:
Best Rock Album - Mechanical Bull
A remix of OneRepublic’s song “If I Lose Myself” (co-written by Tulsa native and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder) earned Alesso one nomination:
Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical - “If I Lose Myself”
The box set The Smith Tapes, which features interviews with Leon Russell, Tom Paxton and Carl Radle, earned a nomination:
