Garth Brooks‘ final one-man acoustic show at the Wynn Las Vegas airs on CBS at 8pm (CST) tonight.
The Yukon native has been playing these intimate shows in Vegas for four years, generally with just himself and a guitar and sometimes accompanied by his wife Trisha Yearwood. The shows, which this writer attended in May 2013, takes fans through his personal musical journey. Brooks plays songs by influential artists like Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Seger, James Taylor and more. He also plays a highlight of his own hit songs.
Brooks has not toured in more than a dozen years, choosing to stay closer to home and raise his family. However, his youngest daughter is set to graduate high school in 2014 and speculation has run rampant that next year will see the return of Brooks in recording and touring. He’s already delivered on the recorded portion, with the release of an incredibly low-priced box set yesterday.
The speculation was fueled by a cryptic message to his fans in October, via his fan newsletter:
The sevens have aligned. It has begun…
Thank you for believing… love, g.
